Bringing Your Child to School, Picking Up Your Child and Visiting Your Child’s Class

We, the members of the Roxbury School Governance Council, remind all parents and guardians of school procedures regarding arrival and dismissal, to ensure the safety of all our students.

I’m driving. Where should I drop off my child in the morning or pick up my child in the afternoon	Enter the parking lot on Roxbury Road in the back of the school and have your child exit/enter the vehicle along the sidewalk. (morning: 8:30-9:00 am, afternoon: 3:20-3:45 pm). Pre-K parents escort students through the main entrance in the morning (8:45-9:00 am) and pick up students at the side door close to Westhill High School (3:00 pm).
Why not the front of the school?	The front of school is for the buses only. It is dangerous to have kids walking in front of and around buses.
What if my child walks to and from school?	Your child should enter through the school’s front entrance in the morning (8:45-9:00 am). In the afternoon, you can meet your child at the door in front of the front playground (up the ramp) and sign him/her out (3:20-3:45 pm). Please do not walk your child into school. This poses security concerns and is disruptive to the other children.
What if we are running late?	If you arrive after 9:00 am, enter through the front doors, escort your child to the main office, and sign him/her in. Your child must walk to class on his/her own.
What if I need to pick up my child early?	Send a note to your child’s teacher *before* the start of the day. *Avoid calling the main office*. You may not pick up between 2:45-3:20 pm. The school is getting ready for full dismissal at this time so you must follow regular procedures.
What if I want to visit the school during the school day?	Schedule an appointment *in advance* with your child’s teacher. All doors are locked during school hours. To come inside the building, you must come through the main entrance. The office staff will ask you to announce yourself and they will unlock the door. You must then go to the main office in order to register and get a pass. No walk-in visits between 8:45-9:05 am or between 2:20-3:20 pm.
