1. By-Laws of the Roxbury School Governance Council were discussed and finalized:

Meeting Facilitators – Diane Phanos and Laurie Prescott

There shall be a rotation of meeting facilitators for each meeting.

Tami Raymer will serve as  Council Secretary and shall be excused as facilitator as long as she serves in this position.

There will be a link on the Roxbury Elementary School website for notice of the School Governance Council meetings and posting of approved minutes. A letter will go out to the parent body to notify them of this link.

The following members will serve for one term from November 2011 – November 2012:

Parent Members- Robin Schultz, Kristi Svec, Erika Smith
Teacher Members – Diane Phanos, Maureen Cacace
Community Member – Suzanne Manela

The following  members will serve for the full two year term from November 2011-November 2013:

Parent Members – Leah Jordhamo, Laurie Prescott, Guy Harris, Martin Cavero
Teacher Members – Tami Raymer, Myia Brannen, Christina Parra
Community Member – Denay Young 

2. Discussed results of teacher and parent surveys.

Minutes of School Governance Council Meeting dated March 5, 2012

1. Approval of the Minutes of the Roxbury School Governance Council dated February 2, 2012.

2. Reviewed draft of the By-Laws and made necessary changes.

Discussed posting the agenda and minutes on the Roxbury Elementary School website. Vote on By-Laws to take place at the next meeting on April 2, 2012.

3. Discussed results of teacher and parent surveys.

Gloria Manna explained the teacher survey and the School Improvement Survey prepared by the data team. Governance Council would like another survey to be sent out with the Data Team Survey to all parents by regular mail. We would like to increase the response rate and Denay Young volunteered to assist with this. We will monitor that no doubles go to families with more than one child enrolled at Roxbury. We would also like to add a comment section at the end of the survey.

Members will bring ideas for the survey to the next Governance Council Meeting.

4. Gloria Manna discussed the current DRA data and explained about the effects of guided reading instruction in the improvement of scores.

Agenda Items for Meeting dated April 2, 2012: 

1. Approval of Minutes dated March 5, 2012
2. Review changes and vote for approval of By-laws
3. Review new questions brought by council members to include in surveys and go over new ways to encourage surveys to be returned.
4. Address/vote on absentee member Erika Smith and determine date of new ballot to be sent out for one additional council member.
