From the desk of Gloria Manna, Principal
Dear Roxbury Families,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of our Roxbury families to our 2011-2012 school year. It is always exciting when we start a new school year. Our staff has been working all summer to prepare for your children. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, writing, science, and math will remain a priority as well as instruction in the essentials of arts, music, physical education and media studies.
Our professional goals this year is to infuse a growth mindset into each and every student. We will expand our work in Literacy and Math to include better use of student achievement data so we can better personalize your child's learning experience. We will be sharing this information with the students to teach them what they need to learn and be able to in order to improve their achievement.
Our focus is always providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. We will be expanding our SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behavior Support) Program to include our Roxbury ROX theme - Respect, Ownership and eXcellence. We will continue to train staff and expand these programs throughout the organization with our internal coach and PBIS committee representing staff, administrators and families.
As we begin this year, please remember that this is your school and we welcome your involvement. Since we recognize that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers, we need your cooperation and involvement to provide your child with the best education possible. Take time to review and/or talk with your children about their school experiences. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best. Maintain contact with your child’s teachers and related service staff members to establish a successful home/school connection.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Manna
We have many exciting events planned for students and families both during and after school this year. Be sure to check our Calendar regularly and empty your child's backpack daily so you don't miss any important news. Be sure to also check out news from our teachers.
