At Roxbury Elementary School, we believe that social skills are as important as academic skills and that a safe, orderly environment is necessary for learning to take place.  Our goal is to empower our children to become problem solvers and life-long learners.   All students must develop the skills to positively navigate through peer and adult relationships so they will be prepared to make positive contributions to their community now and as adults.

We are in our second year of developing School Wide Positive Behavior Supports.   SWPBS is a framework that is developed and implemented by the entire Roxbury Faculty.   The framework establishes a strong connection between academic achievement and personal responsibility.   Expectations for behavior are clearly defined, as are consequences and procedures for inappropriate conduct.

Roxbury's School Wide Rules:  RESPECT PLEASE

We will take care of our property, both school and personal, by using it correctly.

We will be fair to others and ourselves by using quiet voices, raising our hands and waiting our turn so everyone can listen to learn.

We will show good citizenship by taking care of our school environment by keeping our bathrooms, hallways, buses and shared areas clean.

We will show we are trustworthy by listening to all adults in the building the first time.

We will be responsible and take care of ourselves by being safe at all times and making good choices.

We will be respectful by treating each other the way we want to be treated and by using kind words and actions.

Included in our school rules are the Six Pillars of Character.   They are Respect, Honesty, Trustworthy, Responsibility, Caring, Citizenship.   We honor students who demonstrate the qualities of good character by giving out character awards at school wide assemblies.   We also honor students for academic achievement with every report card.
