Readers Workshop
* Comprehension strategies to help understand what we read: making connections, discussing character traits, predicting, rereading
* Using context clues to infer the meaning of words we do not know
* DRP STRATEGIES: read the entire passage, read before AND after the blank to find clues (synonyms, antonyms, time order, pronouns, cause and effect ), cross out the choices that do not make sense
Writing
* What makes Good Writing?- 1) an exciting opening 2) a sequence of events that include transition words 3) sensory words to help the reader visualize 4) dialogue 5)an interesting ending
* The Writing Process- Plan, Draft, Revise, Edit, Publish
Math
* Number Patterns
* Place Value and Ordering Numbers
*Telling Time to 5 min. intervals, and using language quarter past, half past, quarter to
*Money- Counting coins, dollars and cents notation, finding change
*Find the difference between 2 numbers (SUBTRACT!!)
*What's My Rule tables: **remember** when looking for the number that went IN do the opposite of the rule!!
Science
*Observing rocks and minerals
*Describing rocks and minerals using physical properties such as size, shape, color, texture, shine, weight
