Music is taught in 40 minute periods approximately 8 times each month. Roxbury's music department also supports choral performances for Kindergarten, Fourth and Fifth Grades. Additionally, in Fifth Grade, students have the opportunity to participate in a full musical production. Past plays include Bye-Bye Birdie, Willie Wonka and Annie.
Vocal: Students will sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of songs.
Instrumental: Students will play, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of instrumental music.
Improvisation: Students will improvise melodies, variations and accompaniments.
Composition: Students will compose and arrange music.
Notation: Students will read and notate music.
Analysis:Students will listen to, describe and analyze music.
Evaluation: Students will evaluate music and music performances
